Bollywood star Akshay Kumar released on bail
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of obscene behaviour at a recent fashion show.If you read my last entry about Akshay I wrote about his Levi catwalk show when he asked his wife to unbutton his jeans and it went down like a lead balloon.
Subsequenty a complaint of obscenity was subsequently lodged with police and a sharp take of breath as well and it beggars the question why ?
Kumar is the brand ambassador of Levi’s “Unbuttoned” range and one of Bollywood’s most popular stars. He did apologise, saying he did not mean to cause any offence by his actions. Last week he visited Mumbai’s Vakola police station where the complaint was registered, an officer told the BBC. The star was arrested and immediately released on bail. The case is expected to be heard in court at a later date.
During his catwalk appearance at Lakme India Fashion Week in April, Akshay Kumar walked up to his wife, Twinkle Khanna, who was seated in the front row, and asked her to undo the top button of his jeans.
The case against him was filed by Anil P Nayar, a social worker, who says the unbuttoning of the jeans was “vulgar and indecent”. In an interview with the Hindustan Times newspaper published last week, Kumar apparently made light of the complaint. “I just want to make it home… without my car being egged by all those who have never been unbuttoned by their wives,” he said.

A church in East Sussex has unveiled a new seven foot high statue of a modern day Jesus wearing blue jeans (well they are not blue jeans! as the sculpture is made from bronze) and a casual wind swept shirt. Father David Buckley unveiled the £35,000 Marcus Cornish statue dubbed Jesus in jeans at ‘Our Lady Immaculate and St. Philip Neri Catholic church’ in Uckfield depicting Christ as a man of the 21st century.
In the statue Christ can be seen wearing jeans and a shirt billowing in the wind while his hair and beard are neatly and fashionably trimmed. Cornish’s sculpture was funded by money left by Winifred Gregory, 87, a member of the congregation who passed away last year, reports The Telegraph.
Father Buckley said: “You are always looking for new ways to enrich people in the experience of Christianity and it is good people can be open-minded to appreciate it”. “On the continent you often encounter modern representations of Jesus but it is not so common over here. We wanted a figure of Christ not in suffering but dynamic and welcoming. He added: “We felt this design summed up the spirit and activity of Christ perfectly and I think it speaks for itself.”
Marcus Cornish added: “The sculpture is simple and direct and I hope it sums up the feeling that Christ is always with us and that we are not to be afraid. The statues clothes are being blown vigorously to add the sense of him being alive and his strength in defying earthly cares.” He concludes, “The clothing is loosely contemporary in order to connect Christ to his people now as much as to his past. I hope this sculpture will inspire and communicate in very human terms, reaching out and being relevant to both the congregation and local community.
American Idol – Kris Allen loves his jeans

American Idol is about to come to an end this Thursday and those that have been watching have the contestants sing their little hearts out and now down to the final Kris Allen has stood out between you and us (in the office) he is very cute!
This week, Kris Allen avoided the boot or the bullet on American Idol. The “dark horse” the “outsider” contestant managed to come out of nowhere to prevent the seemingly inevitable duel between Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert. Now, the showdown is between Kris and Adam. Kris is a great singer comes up with the goods (my aunt loves him big time!), but is that what really made the difference? We think Kris’ come-from-behind is a sign that the America public likes his style. He is unassuming and humble and wears his clothes with an innocence and sexiness at the same time.
Kris likes to wear casual wear and wears his t-shirts and jeans with a relaxed urban feel. Maybe he also wears lucky pants as apparently a lot of people do Kelly Osbourne loves her lucky knickers as does Links of London and their lucky knickers charm which is lovely(note to self must buy one for my bracelet).
But maybe as reported this week Kris Allen is wearing lucky magic jeans if so lets believe for the moment after all we all need a bit of luck. Jeans, lets face it we love a little bit of denim and nothing more than denim jeans. They are so versatile hard wearing, good looking and comfortable, well most are. When buying jeans you have to consider jeans the way you would a pair of work trousers (I know boring and some lucky people get the wear jeans for work) — they are alterable, jeans can be shortened where needed. My theory is that there’s a little St Tropez in us all. ‘I’m out of here!’: Hollywood heart-throb Zac Efron returns to LA after bizarre attack by ‘crazed fan’
If High Street Musical star Zac Efron looked relieved to be home, no-one could really blame him. Because according to the press a “crazed man attacked him in London Last week”. Apparently a man in his mid 40’s launched himself at Zac trying to grab his hair. He thankfully did not get to him as after all being Zac he was surrounded by a few bodyguards who are trained to deal with situations like this.
The startled 20-year-old, who plays Troy in the hugely successful Disney film, is usually followed by crowds of swooning teenage girls. But, the photo below is the “crazed fan” holding his laptop and wearing a jumper and wagging his finger. According to press reports ‘The man was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him!’

So come on get real, I wonder why he is so cross possibly Zac just tripped over his power lead and unplugged it out of the machine and he lost a very important document that he had not saved. Not only has Zac had a hectic week in London promoting his new film of course we all know the name of it and if you don’t you must have been in a void for the past few weeks. So leaving London with his cute girlfriend he flew back to Los Angels probably thinking we are all jumper wearing finger pointing people!

Jemima was named by Vogue in December 2007 as the epitome of modern glamour and during this year she has been a busy little bee she has been named as the Parisian label’s latest celebrity guest designer, creating a collection of ready-to-wear and accessories. She follows in the footsteps of young socialista Eugenie Niarchos, who collaborated with Azzaro designer Vanessa Seward on an accessories collection last year.
Khan is just one of the latest group of A-listers joining the exodus to the design studio; Janet Jackson announced to press at the Versace menswear show that she is working on a lingerie line, which she hopes to launch before the year is out. (which I will find out about and also post here later).
Born Jemima Marcelle Goldsmith, Khan, the eldest of Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart and the late billionaire James Goldsmith’s three children, presented her capsule collection at the Azzaro showroom during Paris Couture.
Despite all of the above it seems her friends aren’t quite so clued up on how to dress! Jemima was left red-faced when she was turned away from the nightclub Annabel’s because her male companions, including millionaire Damian Aspinall, were wearing jeans, designer jeans. But we can be thankful that Jemima herself looked the part of a budding designer wearing a lovely blue dress and championing Britain with a Union Flag clutch bag, maybe even the one mentioned here!
Before the Olympics started Alexander McQueen produced a patriotic, quirky and funky, Union Jack Clutch bag. The clutch has patent leather detailing and a rather odd skull clasp decorated with pearls and diamantes. The hardware is gold and the bag colours, as if you couldn’t guess, are red, white and blue.
Certainly one for the flamboyant, and I can guarantee it will bring a touch of bling to any evening outfit. Question, how many WAGS have been spotted carrying this bag to England matches?

This article was first published at the beginning of the year and I thought that it was worth looking at more closely. In the long and varied history of fashion faux pas, this may be the worst.
But these ultra low-rise, crotch-clutching jeans are virtually guaranteed to provoke a stampede from the usual shameless Z-listers best known for flashing their derrieres in public. Now can we name a few ? answers on a postcard…..
The jeans cost about 54 Euros or 83 dollars and is worryingly reminiscent of the late-lamented g-string (cheese wire knickers as I like to call them) hitched above trousers/jeans fad, that thankfully did not last that long. This line of jeans is available at Sanna’s brazil fashion but they only have at the moment have size 44 left so for the bigger sized person!!!! Well even with my nights out in Manchester I can’t say I have seen these Jeans out and about, I know my social life is not a busy as it used to be but still not seen them!!! (just sold in Brazil then!)
So let’s conclude – The low-rise jeans complete with bikini bottom are only for the very svelte. Most frightening of all, the ensemble is only held up by an elasticated thong or ribbon.
Designer Sandra Tanimura said she decided to introduce the designs as her customers wanted very low trousers – but had difficulty keeping them up. She went on to say “We specialise in making low-rise trousers and our customers wanted them to get even lower. “It was very difficult meeting these demands without the trousers falling down. “I came up with the idea of using the bikini strings to let the trousers hang really low without falling. “Our first two trouser designs were made of lycra but now we make bikini-jeans.”

Cortez had a fantastic gig on the 4th October playing to a select group of people at O’Henrys in Glasgow. It was a birthday gig for HMV. The Fratellis paid for the night as a thanks to HMV for all the support they gave when they were starting out and they have asked for Cortez to provide the nights entertainment!!! which they did in style!

Since Victoria as in Beckham was seen wearing the baggy boyfriend cut jeans on a visit to a zoo recently sales of this type of jeans has increased.
Teamed with a casual t-shirt she looks relaxed and comfortable (for a change!) no heels and she has worn some really silly shoes recently. Well they were in fact boots. Clothes Show banning skinny models!

Skinny male models have been banned from The Clothes Show after a rise of 67 per cent in the number of men suffering from anorexia, so-called ‘manorexia’.
Gavin Brown, managing director of the live show – which banned size zero girls in 2006 – said the rise over the past five years ‘has been attributed to the fashion industry’s increasing preference for very slender male models’.
Male models on the catwalk in Paris last week: The Clothes Show has banned unnaturally thin male models to promote a healthy body image after cases of ‘manorexia’ have increased by 67 per cent
He added: ‘The show has refused to employ what appears to be unnaturally thin male models as part of an ongoing commitment to promoting a healthy body image.’ Azmina Govindji, a dietician with the British Dietetic Association, said: ‘Our view is that anything that idolises skinniness in men or women is potentially harmful.’

Jeans for Genes aims to change the world for children affected by genetic disorders. They do this with the funds that are donated on Jeans for Genes Day which this year takes place on Friday 3rd October.

Genetic disorders have symptoms which range from cleft lips, which are relatively easy to correct with surgery, to extremely painful blood disorders like sickle cell anaemia.
These conditions are caused by tiny differences in a child’s genes.
On Friday 3rd October you could make a BIG difference to their lives by throwing out your uniform or your suit and throwing on your jeans!

You probably already read about this a few months ago about a law that landed a Florida teenager in jail for having sagging jeans that exposed his underwear is unconstitutional, a judge has decided.
The 17-year-old spent a night in jail after police arrested him for exposing 4in (10cm) of boxer shorts in Riviera Beach, south-east Florida. How mad is this half the kids in Manchester would be arrested and especially one of my sons friends whose undies are always on show!
Town voters backed the law in March after supporters raised a petition. However, a circuit judge ruled that the law was unconstitutional based on “the limited facts” of the case. Carol Bickerstaff, defending teenager Julius Hart, had urged Judge Paul Moyle to throw out the law, saying: “Your honour, we now have the fashion police.”
Before making his ruling, Judge Moyle said: “We’re not talking about exposure of buttocks. No. We’re talking about someone who has on pants whose underwear are apparently visible to a police officer who then makes an arrest, and the basis is he’s then held overnight.”
